DeafLEAD Victim Services

DeafLEAD provides services to Deaf, Hard of Hearing, DeafBlind, and Late-Deafened victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking, and crime. We also provide services to the families and communities of those individuals.

DeafLEAD provides the following victim services:

Victim services include anything the victim needs, at whatever place in their journey they find us.

Services Through DeafLEAD

We provide case management and crisis intervention when victims are leaving abusive situations, and continue those services as long after as they need.

This can include finding shelter referrals, and assisting with the communication advocacy necessary for the shelter to understand the specific language and culture barriers a deaf victim will face in a hearing environment.

We find and link victims with the resources they need, including food, clothing, mental health services, or legal representation. We also assist victims in navigating resources as needed.

We can provide free crisis interpreters for situations where shelters, free community services or legal aid do not have accessibility measures in their budget.

Referrals

Victims can reach out to access services by calling the main voice or VP lines, or contacting the Deaf Crisis Line

Alternatively, an agency can make a referral to DeafLEAD. In those cases, we will need to talk directly with the victim. Shelters may contact us for support as long as the Deaf individual agrees to include us on the team.
