For more than 25 years, we’ve consulted with victim service providers across the nation to help them serve individuals with hearing loss.

We support providers who are providing services for Deaf and hearing survivors and advocate for Deaf people receiving those services.

We strive to connect individuals with Deaf accessible shelters when available.

When unavailable, we provide collaborative services through hearing providers including:

  • Crisis interpreting
  • Co-advocacy services
  • Training services
  • Assisting with contacting shelters
  • Acting as mediators
  • Outreach services
  • Assisting survivors while they are in residential services

Collaborative Services

At DeafLEAD, our staff can work with a variety of programs and services to provide comprehensive assistance to survivors. Hearing agencies may have Deaf programs, but are hearing-focused.

DeafLEAD is the complete opposite, which systematically switches everything up. By collaborating with hearing services and programs, we can  ensure any space we are working in is set up in the best way to support Deaf survivors.

We work with shelters to ensure that survivors are getting everything they can out of programs and services. This can include finding space in shelters and interpreting services.

We can assist law enforcement officers, lawyers, court advocates, and other legal professionals with matters related to our clients. Often, this comes in the form of advocacy and interpreting services.

We can facilitate communication between survivors and people who work in hospitals, ERs, and other medical and mental health facilities.

If you are working with a survivor who communicates primarily in American Sign language (ASL), we can provide trauma-informed interpreting as well as crisis interpreting.
